Recipe Template

April 16, 2024

Write a 50-150 word intro. Use the name of your recipe 2-3 times for SEO purposes. What to write about? Here are three ideas:

  • Tell a Personal Story: Begin with a personal anecdote or memory related to the recipe.
  • Share Interesting Facts or History: Provide background information about the recipe's origins or cultural significance.
  • Highlight what makes this recipe a standout: Perhaps it's the health benefits, the fact that it's easy to make, or that it's a great recipe to make with kids ... highlight whatever made this recipe one you wanted to share.

Recipes where the intro really works:

Notes on images:

Food pictures can be difficult to take! Here are four tips:

  1. Use natural lighting when possible. Harsh overhead lights or a flash are often unflattering.
  2. Experiment with different angles to find the most appealing perspective for your dish.
  3. Consider the plate you use, the placement of utensils, and the background to create an aesthetically pleasing composition.
  4. Consider adding people to an image. While most recipes showcase the food in images, it's also fun to include kids enjoying the meal or helping with meal prep!

Recipe Name

Notes about Macaroni KID style when it comes to listing ingredients. We:

  • Use numbers instead of words (1/2 instead of Half)
  • Lead with the amount: (1/4 cup of milk)
  • Avoid brand names as much as possible.
  • Don't capitalize unless it's a proper name (Right: 1/2 cup brown sugar | Wrong: 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar)
  • Use Tbsp. (upper case) and tsp. (lowercase)

Ingredients:

  • Ingredient 1
  • Ingredient 2
  • Ingredient 3

Directions:

Notes about directions: Write detailed and easy-to-follow directions. Ideally, you can ask someone to try making your recipe before submitting it so they can let you know if the directions are clear and easy to follow.

1. Direction 1

2. Direction 2

3. Direction 3

Finish with a simple closing sentence. Use the recipe name again for SEO purposes.
